The Native Plant Demonstration Garden is part of a 5-acre site within the 1200-acre Hidden Mesa Open Space, managed by Douglas County Open Space. CSU Extension partners with the County to maintain several gardens around the farmstead on this unique property.
The native plantings were first installed in the early 2000s, and were predominated by milkweed and rabbitbrush. In 2018, new gardens with more diverse plantings were added around a reconstructed “barn.” 2022 saw the doubling of the garden’s size, with new plantings of cacti, grasses, and ethnobotanical plants. Colorado Master Gardeners are on site most Tuesday mornings to answer your questions and provide tours!
