Welcome to the CSU Extension Office in Douglas County. "Extension" means reaching out and extending university research and resources to meet public needs at the community level. Our goal is to assist you with any question you may have, whether it is about gardening, wildlife, 4-H, or any other needs.

Douglas County 4-H Projects and Contests

A key principle of the 4-H program is learning through direct experience. There are over 60 project areas available, including Dogs, Horses, Livestock, Electricity, Rabbits, Clothing, Knitting, Foods, Leadership, Model Rockets, Poultry, Woodworking, Wildlife, Shooting Sports, Photography, Entomology, & Gardening (to name a few) where each member can find an area of personal interest. Find information about various projects & related workshops listed below.

Manuals

Many projects require that a completed manual be turned in along with the record book and item created. Please plan ahead so your member has time to complete their manual.

Many can be ordered or downloaded for FREE from the CSU website HERE.

You can also order manuals from Shop 4-H. Shop 4-H carries curriculum for many states, so be sure to order the exact manual listed for your unit in the State Fair requirements.

If you can’t find your manual in either place, you can place an order through our office.

     Order ANIMAL Project Manuals Here.
     Order GENERAL Project Manuals Here.

E-Record Books

Follow this link and click on your corresponding project area for E-Record Books. Please note that every record book will require photographs of the member and project, so take photos throughout the project.

Douglas County Fair

The Douglas County Fair and Colorado State University Extension are separate entities. We are thankful for this collaboration which allows 4-H youth the opportunity to exhibit projects in the Youth Department of the Douglas County Fair. For many, this educational experience is often the highlight of the 4-H year.

See New Member Resources for info about exhibiting at fair. Click the New Member tab at this page.

Be sure to check out the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo website for ALL rules, policies, and protocols related to the Douglas County Fair & Rodeo.
