The Douglas County Fair and Colorado State University Extension are separate entities. We are thankful for this collaboration which allows 4-H youth the opportunity to exhibit projects in the Youth Department of the Douglas County Fair. For many, this educational experience is often the highlight of the 4-H year. Shows provide opportunities for 4-H members to demonstrate new knowledge, abilities, and skills. Douglas County Fair and its programs provide a valuable showcase of learning for the community. CSU Extension staff function in an education leadership role to enhance the educational quality of these experiences.

4-H members may enter their animal and general projects into county fair for judging. Top general projects in each unit and age group are promoted to Colorado State Fair. Animal projects are judged both for showmanship skills of the youth and for quality of the animal. Animals which meet the requirements are allowed in the livestock sale, which is run by the Douglas County Fair Board, an entity separate from Douglas County 4-H. Animal projects may also be entered in Colorado State Fair, but this process is completely independent of county fair.
